In his everyday work, Mads is the coordinator of, and team leader for, the research group CHESS (Children’s Health Education in School, Family and Community Settings) as well as leader of the focus area ‘Children’s health, well-being, and learning’. CHESS is anchored in the Section for Health Promotion and Prevention and works mission oriented with a focus on interdisciplinary, cross-sectional and population-based intervention projects. Mads looks forward to meeting you all and giving a thorough introduction to the group, the group’s projects and theoretical and methodological approach.
In particular, Mads will illustrate concrete examples from the ongoing research project, MOVEOUT. MOVEOUT is a RCT efficacy study designed to examine the impact of a 1-year school-based intervention that promotes curriculum-based learning outside the school’s buildings, as opposed to typical classroom learning. The purpose of this project is to strengthen the students’ well-being, school motivation, physical activity levels and learning outcomes through an innovative approach to teaching and health promotion.
